Studio Space

The photograph at the top of my blog is the studio I set up in the house in Virginia. I loved it and I got a lot done there. I've set up a studio here in Florida, but I haven't really been able to create much in it. So, it is moving. We are giving up the formal living room and the dining room and are moving my stuff downstairs. The graphic here is what it will be laid out as. I'll have an area for paper, an area for sewing, an area to sit and read, and a nest for my embroidery. I don't quite have enough bookcases, but there just isn't enough room. So far, the left side of the room is pretty much in place. I need to measure my current steel shelving (which I'd love to replace) and see if it will fit where I'd really rather have a dresser.

When I say "we" are moving stuff, I'm really saying that I'm moving everything small to smallish. My husband and son will have to move my butcher block tables. My hope is that I can get enough things moved and put away, so the arrival of the tables doesn't cause too big of a mess. I'm trotting up and down the stairs a lot and the poor dog is freaking out, as she trots along beside me and somehow manages not to get in the way.

Next!

The quilt is sort of finished. I need to decide what I want to do with the edges. But it is nice and cozy and long enough for me to keep my toes covered, too.

So. There is a 'good' JoAnns about an hour's drive away from the house. There is a 'yukky' JoAnns, about a 20 minute drive. I was working on a quilt, ran out of thread and hit the 'yukky' one for an additional spool of thread in exactly the color I needed to finish my project. I also got 12 sheets of scrapbook paper (which have to be scanned in one sheet at a time). I got home only to discover that though I'd put all the items onto the counter, the sales clerk had not rung up my spool of thread. I discovered this, of course, when I got home and went to get back to work. There are many reasons I think that JoAnns is 'yukky.' Now I can add to that list.

Untouched = Not Updated

So, I finally opened up Lightroom after a long time away from my computer. Really, I shouldn't have. I have had to install at least two updates and reboot once. Eventually, I'll be able to print the two pictures that I wanted.

If I'd regularly used the application, I'd have been caught up with the updates and printing those two pics would be a snap. Nope. If you don't use it, you lose it and staying updated is no exception.

Bernina Stitch Regulator

I do free motion quilting. I'd like a Bernina Stitch Regulator, but I am not willing to pay $12,000 for a Bernina 8 Series. I might think about trading in my Artista for a more recent model, but frankly, the price of the upgrade would not be worth it for me. I just don't quilt that much.

A Reason to be Happy

My stepson's old girlfriend is pregnant. He is NOT the father. I pity the actual father, I pity the grandparents. I pity the poor, innocent baby. But I'm celebrating.

Sketchbook

I needed some inspiration lately and I sat down and looked through my book of sketches for layouts and layout ideas. I have some rather detailed sketches and a few very good ideas for projects in there. Now all I need to do is figure out when I'll actually have time to do some of those projects.
